WHERE: Humanist Hall, 390 27th Street, Oakland, California.

Army Pfc. (Private First Class) Bradley Manning was not even born when Daniel Ellsberg leaked the Pentagon Papers that helped end the Vietnam War. Now Ellsberg is speaking out for Manning. Ellsberg, US Army Col. Ann Wright (ret.), a former US diplomat to Afghanistan, Ray McGovern, senior CIA analyst (ret.) will speak out against the jailing of Manning and call for his immediate release at the Humanist Hall, 390 27th Street, Oakland, California.

Manning is incarcerated for allegedly leaking, among other things, combat video showing the gunning down of Iraqi civilians and Reuters journalists (released by Wikileaks, video at www.collateralmurder.com). Manning has been held in isolation since May 2010 and, if convicted, faces up to 52 years imprisonment. The twenty-two year old Manning is now held in Quantico, Virginia.

Ellsberg, McGovern and Wright will also demand transparency in United States war policies, at the Oakland event, the first of three days (September 16-19) of public events and support demonstrations in 18 cities across the country and internationally. An online live simulcast of the event will be co-hosted by Michael Moore at his website MichaelMoore.com.
