This FAQ is related to Courage to Resist’s “Resisting Individual Ready Reserve (IRR) recall” published February 2009. If this question is of interest to you, please read our overview first.
Most lawyers required $5,000 to $10,000 or more to handle an IRR related case.
If you were facing significant legal issues, there would be no question that you would want to do everything you could to acquire the best legal defense available to you. However, to spend thousands of dollars to help resolve an issue with such limited repercussions doesn’t make sense for most individuals.
Most lawyers will be charging you for little more than help with your activation exemption packet. Doing this yourself will take more effort on your part, but most people will find the cost savings very worthwhile. Free assistance with your exemption packet is available from the GI Rights Hotline at 877-447-4487. Courage to Resist is also available to provide general guidance at 510-488-3559.
