By Courage to Resist. April 12, 2011

The international activist website Avvaz.org has joined the campaign to support Bradley Manning in a big way. About a half million people have already signed the statement that Bradley’s treatment as a “violation of his constitutionally guaranteed human rights, and a chilling deterrent to other potential whistleblowers committed to public integrity.“ The letter will be delivered to President Barack Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Secretary of Defense Robert Gates. Nearly 300 of the top law scholars in the US have just called on the Obama administration to end the torturous treatment of Bradley Manning. The list of signatories includes Laurence Tribe, a Harvard professor who is considered to be America's foremost liberal authority on constitutional law. Professor Tribe taught constitutional law to Barack Obama, was a key backer of his 2008 presidential campaign, and was a legal adviser in the justice department until recently.
